We are coming to the end of an era.
I took a hike down the North trail and walked south from there all the way to the surf break to check it for a possible body surf. I didn’t go out. It wasn’t that good but I did see some old friends on the way and on the way back. Steve was camped out with his bogie boarding friends and we talked a bit. On my way back to the main trail and the way up, I ran into Alex and Marilyn, some of my favorite visitors to beach from the time I was monitoring our section of the beach last summer.
Hi Alex and Marilyn! Great to see you!
I shared with them the following news.
Some time this month, Lloyd Johnson, a long time promoter and supporter of Black’s Beach will be moving to Maui. He will be missed. Even though he didn’t update it regularly, his Black’s Beach Bares’ website was a valuable guide to our favorite beach and its history. I hope that Dave and Chrissy or Geoff, or someone will continue to keep the site on line.
A Black’s Beach without Lloyd Johnson? It’s a bit hard to imagine, but most things change over time. So, Let’s all wish Lloyd all the best and try to maintain the kind of beach situation here at Black’s that he had in mind.
